He also contributes to the design and analysis of DCP studies, including the Interactive Diet and Activity Tracking in AARP (IDATA) Study, a large biomarker validation study of diet and physical activity assessment tools. Mr. Midthune is part of a multidisciplinary team that develops statistical methodology and statistical software for biomedical research in cancer prevention, including a package of statistical software to assess and adjust for measurement error in nutrition research. He also collaborates with the NCI Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences to develop methods to correct for reporting delay in Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) and North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) cancer registry data.
Mr. Midthune’s research interests include the evaluation of measurement error in diet and physical activity assessment, methods to adjust for bias due to measurement error in biomedical studies, longitudinal data analysis and computational statistics. Mr. Midthune earned a M.A. in statistics from the University of Maryland. He joined the Biometry Research Group in 1998.
