Overview

The Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative is a trans-agency effort to address the opioid crisis. One aim of the HEAL Initiative focuses on addressing the crisis by developing better pain management research, techniques, and practices. Opioids are commonly used to manage cancerassociated pain, thus there is room in the Initiative for research into new ways to manage cancer- or cancer treatment-associated pain. During this webinar, HEAL and NCI staff will provide an overview of the HEAL Initiative and discuss opportunities for cancer pain researchers to participate. We will cover funding opportunities for clinical, preclinical, and translational research in pain management and efforts to address health disparities in pain management. We will also discuss training opportunities available through the HEAL Initiative and address questions at the end of the webinar. We encourage cancer pain researchers to attend and learn about the opportunities available through the HEAL Initiative.

Topics Covered

  • Hear an overview of the HEAL Initiative
  • Learn about overlapping areas of interest between the HEAL Initiative and the National Cancer Institute
  • Learn about efforts to address health disparities in pain management
  • Learn about training opportunities for cancer pain researchers
