Biography
Dr. Jennifer Jo Kyte has 30 years of nursing experience and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health, and by the Society of Clinical Research Professionals (SOCRA) as a Certified Clinical Research Professional. Over the course of her nursing career, she worked nationally and internationally in trauma and critical care as a clinical expert, change agent, consultant, and educator. She began working at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2016 as the Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist eventually transitioning to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) as a Research Nurse Specialist (RNS). For the last six years she has supervised a large cross functional team of NHLBI research support staff assigned to the Cardiovascular, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Branches and Programs. Her recent work has focused on research participant care, staff management, resource allocation, policy development, process improvement, protocol implementation, sustainability and closure, regulatory compliance, human subjects protections and data integrity.
Dr. Kyte received an Associate of Science in Nursing from the Mississippi University for Women in 1994, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2001 and a dual focus Master of Science in Advanced Practice Nursing and Nursing Education from the University of South Alabama in 2007. In 2015 she earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama. Prior to becoming a nurse Dr. Kyte served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and Emergency Medical Technician.
Her most recent awards and recognitions include NHLBI Director’s Awards, NHLBI and Clinical Center Nursing Department Special Act Awards, NHLBI Covid 19 Response Awards and an Inova Health System Nurse of the Year Award.
