Biography

Indu Kohaar, Ph.D., serves as a Program Director in the Cancer Biomarkers Research Group (CBRG), Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP), National Cancer Institute (NCI). In her current role she provides oversight and manages a diverse portfolio of grants focusing on biomarkers and early cancer detection.

She has taken on a leadership role in supporting the programmatic and scientific management of several NCI initiatives, including the Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) Genitourinary program and the Trans NCI Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN) Pre-cancer Atlas (PCA). She is also involved in the planning and management of the National Liver Cancer Screening trial (TRACER).

Dr. Kohaar received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Delhi University, India. Before joining DCP, she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine and currently holds an Adjunct Faculty appointment as a Research Associate Professor (non-tenured) at the department. Her research focused on investigating the molecular genetics underlying prostate cancer and the discovery of biomarkers for aggressive prostate cancer.
