Ellen Richmond, a Board-certified Gerontologic Nurse Practitioner is a Program Director and the Nurse Consultant in the Gastrointestinal and Other Cancers Research Group (GOCRG) in the NCI’s Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP). Her primary research interests are esophageal cancer prevention and clinical trial accrual.  As the GOCRG Nurse Consultant, she is involved in the development and oversight of early phase GI cancer chemoprevention trials. She created and leads the implementation of the Accrual Quality Improvement Program (AQuIP), a multi-component system that supports the DCP early phase cancer prevention trials.  Other major projects include cross-NCI, cross- NIH, national and international collaborations: She is Program Director for GOCRG Barrett’s esophagus grants portfolio and established the Barrett's Esophagus Translational Research Network (BETRNet) in collaboration with Division of Cancer Biology colleagues. She is the Project Scientist for the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences’ Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Network’s Esophagus Working Group. She was involved in the conception of the Aspirin to Reduce Events in the Elderly (ASPREE) Cancer Endpoint Sub-study, an international collaboration with the National Institute on Aging and serves as NCI liaison on several ASPREE subcommittees.  She is also the DCP early phase cancer prevention representative on the SWOG Recruitment Committee. She has received NCI and NIH Director's awards for her work in esophageal cancer prevention and ASPREE.
