Biography

Wendy Wang, Ph.D., M.Sc., is a Program Director in the Cancer Biomarkers Research Group in the Division of Cancer Prevention at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). She is also Program Director for the Early Detection Research Network (EDRN), currently focusing on early detection of head and neck cancer. She has joined EDRN’s Committees and Collaborative Groups, including the Breast and Gynecologic Cancers Research Group and the G.I. and Other Associated Cancers Research Group.

Dr. Wang received a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and a M.Sc. from the University of California, Davis. During her career at NCI she has participated in trans-NIH initiatives on topics such as gene-environment interaction research, the International HapMap Project, genome-wide association analysis methods, technology for analyzing genetic and epigenetic mutations, and technologies in DNA repair.

Dr. Wang has taken a leadership role in supporting initiatives involving non-coding RNA and adducts/adductomics to promote cancer early detection and prevention research. She has also played a key role in collaborations between NCI and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) on early detection of head and neck cancer, including the Advancing Head and Neck Cancer Early Detection Research (AHEAD) initiative.
