Biography
Dr. Karl Krueger received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Vanderbilt University and continued his research training at NIH as a postdoctoral fellow before joining the faculty at Georgetown University School of Medicine. His research throughout this period focused on different aspects of drug receptors and their role in the nervous system.
Since coming to NCI in 2004, he joined the Cancer Biomarkers Research Group as a Program Director and manages a grant portfolio of early detection biomarkers for lung and upper aerodigestive cancers. This activity includes oversight of this respective collaborative group within the Early Detection Network. He also manages the Alliance of Glycobiologists for Cancer Research, a consortium of 10 research teams devoted to identifying and developing biomarkers based on glycan alterations found in cancer.
