Gastric (stomach) cancer is a leading cause of death in the United States (US). The cancer burden, however, is differentially distributed across racial/ethnic groups, with non-White individuals exhibiting the highest incidence and mortality rates. Because of the lack of epidemiologic and clinical studies on underserved US population groups, only limited data on relevant risk factors of those most affected are available to inform evidence-based gastric cancer control, prevention, and intervention efforts.
The aim of the Think Tank is to provide a forum for a multidisciplinary group of gastric cancer experts to review the state of the science and collaboratively identify critical knowledge gaps. If successful, the meeting summary will augment the national and international research agendas in gastric cancer prevention and control.
