Dietary habits have increasingly been recognized as modifiable risk factors in the development of colorectal cancer, with particular attention given to the role of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). Anwaar Saeed, M.D.

Biography

Anwaar Saeed, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Chief of the Gastrointestinal (GI) Medical Oncology Program at the University of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. She also serves as the Vice Chair of the Colorectal Cancer Committee of the NSABP Foundation.

Her research efforts focus on immune modulatory approaches in patients with gastric & esophageal cancer, colon cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma as well as chemoprevention/immunoprevention in the high-risk GI population.

She currently leads several investigator-initiated trials focused on novel targeted immunotherapy combinations and is the study chair for a soon to open SWOG/intergroup NCI national trial (S2303) testing a novel chemo-immunotherapy regimen in patients with advanced gastric & esophageal adenocarcinoma.
