Dr. Hala Azzam is a Cancer Epidemiologist in the Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program (CPFP) in the Division of Cancer Prevention within the National Cancer Institute. She received her Bachelor's degree in molecular biology from Kings College London University, her PhD in anatomy and cell biology from Georgetown University Lombardi Cancer Center, and her MPH in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University. She is also a CPFP alumna.

Dr. Azzam’s career trajectory has taken her from basic research in cancer and immunology, to international cancer research, multidisciplinary program management and evaluation work. She has worked in many di fferent sectors including academia, federal, non-profit and for-profit. During her tenure in academia she obtained NIH Fogarty funding to develop and direct a global health center that fostered multidisciplinary research. Prior to joining CPFP in 2016, she directed a cancer prevention and control research training program in Morocco. Dr. Azzam's current research interests include the science of team science and how to foster a culture of multidisciplinary teamwork in cancer prevention and control.
